There are so many unbelievable things to do in Maui that the hard part is to choose among all the incredible offers.
Personally, I prefer to explore Maui's beauty by myself. I love to hike and snorkel in less crowded spots. To do so, I totally rely on my rental car and my favorite guidebooks. The great thing about Maui (and all the Hawaiian islands) is that you can enjoy its treasures without having to spend a dime. Nature is there, free, waiting for you.
Should you choose to visit the island this way, remember that you do need a little planning before you go. And don't forget that a rental car and a good Maui travel guide are an absolute must.
That being said, there are tons of good reasons to choose pre-organized Maui activities: on a last minute trip, need to relax, don't want to worry about anything, like guided tours, traveling with kids…
Guided tours and activity packages usually mean a little less private exploration of the island. But they do provide great benefits: you don't have to take care of anything and you get the chance to meet new people, which is great. Plus, you take advantage of the experience and knowledge of dedicated local travel guides. This can bring a lot to your vacations.
You are the best person to decide which traveling style you prefer. Choose your Maui activities accordingly and you are in for a great time on the island.
